OLD SPACES, NEW ROOMS
Gently and carefully we have made bright and friendly guest areas out of the old enclosure and the former boarding school rooms. In Refugium Hochstrass we offer you
24 single rooms: 6 of which are equipped with extra wide beds, 12 with connecting doors,
14 double rooms and
2 suites, which you can book as family rooms.
WHAT IS ENOUGH IS NEVER TOO MUCH
While furnishing the Refugium, we also concentrated on the essentials – on what it really comes down to. The furniture is made by master joiners and also in bed you have everything you really need for a restful night. Sockets for your notebook and mobile telephone chargers are within reach, so you don’t have to bend down or squeeze under the table.
Each one of our rooms is in itself – and especially for you! – what Hochstrass is as a whole: a refuge. We would like to give you the possibility to completely shut off once. Instead of a television set in your room, you thus find the time and leisure to reflect upon what you have experienced and to find peace of mind.

THE PLACE SPEAKS
As the last aged nuns moved out of the Hochstrass Convent in 2009, they left behind a fully furnished and perfectly tidy house. We have kept a large part of the convent inventory and beyond that have interviewed numerous contemporary witnesses in order to preserve as much as the more than one-hundred-year-old history of Hochstrass as possible.
Just as important for us as retaining the architectonic integrity of the estate is to make the history of the house accessible to our guests. Therefore, we can tell you Hochstrass history in each of the rooms with an anecdote or a labeled artifact – whether it be a chair, a mirror or merely a picture frame.
